Each of the 5 chambers contains a key pin (bottom, pink) and a driver pin (top, blue). The plug can only rotate when all driver pins are lifted clear of the shear line simultaneously.
1. Hold SHIFT to apply tension — one pin will bind against the plug.
2. Use A / D to navigate the pick to that pin's chamber.
3. Hold SPACE to lever the pick up, pushing the key pin upward.
4. With tension ≥ 50%, the driver pin catches at the shear line — pin is SET ✓.
5. Repeat for each pin in binding order. Set all 5 to open the lock!
These pins have a waist that catches at the shear line — called a false set. The plug rotates a little further, making you think the pin is set.
1. Push key pin up with tension ≥ 50% — driver turns orange.
2. Keep SPACE held. Ease off SHIFT to 25–45% — plug counter-rotates slightly.
3. Driver turns green — truly set!
Serrated pins have multiple ridges. One push enters the first catch — then ease and re-apply tension to step through each remaining ridge. No re-pushing required.
1. Push key pin up with tension ≥ 50% — driver turns red-orange.
2. Keep SPACE held. Ease tension into the release window — ridge clears, colour advances.
3. Re-apply tension above the window, then ease again — next ridge clears.
4. Repeat until driver turns green — pin is set!
Colour shows progress: red-orange → orange → yellow → green.
Bitting determines ridge count: shorter key pins sit lower in the plug — their driver sits higher in the bible with more serrations above the shear line, so more catches to clear. Taller pins have fewer ridges.
Advanced: 1–2 ridges per pin. Expert: 1–3 ridges per pin.
Pushing a pin too far past the shear line causes it to overset — the pin flashes red and resets. Push more precisely!
Beginner: oversetting disabled. Advanced: moderate limit. Expert: very tight limit.
Beginner — No oversetting, no serration ridges, slow pin drop, wide tension window, collision highlight on, controls shown.
Advanced — Oversetting active, 1 serration ridge, tension wobble, faster pin drop, controls hidden.
Expert — Tight overset limit, 2 serration ridges, strong wobble, fast drop, no pin collision highlight.
Press F2 to cycle difficulty. Resets the lock immediately.
SHIFT (hold): Builds tension — minimum 50% required to set a standard pin.
Warning: If tension drops below 20%, all set pins drop and you restart.
Each of the 5 pins is randomly assigned a different driver type — standard, mushroom, spool, or serrated. You must identify each pin by feel and apply the correct technique. Closest to a real high-security lock.
Cycle between four pick profiles — each has a different tip geometry and contact point:
Medium Hook — balanced all-rounder, moderate reach and hook height.
Deforest — taller hook, better reach into deeper-bitted pins.
Half Diamond — low flat profile, useful for shallow pins and raking.
Snake — offset tip, different approach angle to the pin stack.
The pick name and F3 shortcut are shown in the status panel top-left.
The timer starts the moment you first apply tension and stops when the lock opens. Your time is shown on the win screen and included in the share image.
