This privacy policy applies to bareboneslockpicking.com (Site), operated by Bare Bones Lock Picking (ABN 56 389 759 581), based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia (BareBonesLockPicking, us, we, our).
We are committed to handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose it, and how you can access, correct, or make a complaint about the handling of your personal information.

What personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with the Site, we may collect:
- Order and account information: name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, and order history, when you place an order or create an account.
- Payment information: we do not collect or store your full card or payment details. Payments are processed directly by PayPal, and we only receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details (such as amount and order reference) needed to fulfil your order.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us by email or through a contact form, including your message content.
- Technical and usage information: IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected automatically through cookies and analytics tools when you browse the Site.
- Comments: if you leave a comment on the Site, we collect the content of the comment, your name and email if provided, your IP address, and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
How we collect personal information
We collect personal information directly from you when you place an order, create an account, contact us, or leave a comment on the Site. We also collect information automatically through cookies and analytics tools as you browse the Site (see Cookies, below).
Why we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information

- Delivery: Australia Post and other carriers we use from time to time, to deliver your order.
- Fraud prevention: a fraud-screening service, to help identify and prevent fraudulent orders.

- Email delivery: our transactional email provider, to send order confirmations and account-related emails.
- Hosting and IT service providers, who store and process data on our behalf to keep the Site running securely.
Overseas disclosure
Some of the third parties we use, including PayPal and Google Analytics, are based overseas (including in the United States) and may store or process personal information outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle personal information in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Cookies
The Site uses cookies for several purposes:
- Shopping cart and checkout: to remember what’s in your cart and let you complete an order.
- Site performance and caching: to load pages faster. These cookies do not contain personal information.
- Analytics: Google Analytics cookies, to help us understand site usage in aggregate.
- Login and comments: if you have an account or leave a comment, cookies may remember your login or your name, email and website so you don’t have to re-enter them next time.

Embedded content from other websites

How long we retain your information
We retain order and financial records for at least five years to meet our obligations under Australian tax law. Account information is retained while your account remains active, or as needed to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Comments and their metadata are generally retained indefinitely, unless you request deletion. We delete or de-identify personal information when it’s no longer needed for these purposes, subject to our legal and record-keeping obligations.
Data security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Access, correction, and complaints
You can request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you at any time by emailing accounts@bareboneslockpicking.com. If you have an account on the Site, you can also view and update most of your details directly through your account.
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed at children. In line with our Terms and Conditions, if you are under 18 you must have your parent or guardian’s consent to use the Site.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
