Feral Tension set is now available!
This TOK/BOK set is named after its creator (named ‘Feral’ – Black belt member in Australasian discord) who wanted a better tension tool for picking padlocks in hand. The ‘notched’ end can be used in Top Of Keyway but also as a BOK, with the notch playing no part. The tapered other end suits BOK to odd spot placement. Though better suited to right handed, its certainly useful to left handed pickers.
Each set comes with three thicknesses of 30thou,40thou and 50thou (white, yellow, red)
The set has three sizes of 30thou, 40thou and 50thou to ensure you will have the right thickness for a given keyway
Approx dimensions:
Length – 75mm
Returns – 7.4mm & 11mm
Width – 3.3mm

Before picking up this set, I exclusively used Bottom of Keyway (BOK) tension; my eyes are now open.
With a bit of practice, the Top of Keyway (TOK) tension style is incredible. It’s particularly useful on locks with high tolerances or paracentric keyways.
If you’re a beginner and are intimidated by the delicate nature of TOK, the tapered BOK end has your back. You can experiment with different placements and adjust the length of insertion.
And, as a bonus, the coloured tags make it easy to find the right thickness. In my opinion, the traffic light colour system would have been more intuitive; but that’s just my brand of OCD.
