These lock picks… Where do I start. They have elevated my lock picking by such a degree, I’m now comfortable picking Green Belt level locks.
Previously, I mained a HPC Short Hook and had no concept of the meaning “Gem Lock Pick”; I finally understand.
‘Set 1’ provides 2 flat gems and 1 rounded gem. These are excellent for the majority of door locks found in Australia (wide keyways).
The Gem tips offer excellent feedback when locating a pin and provide a precise platform for individual picking. They truly aid in my ability to attack spool pins and determine whether a pin is overset. ‘Set 2’ is essentially the same as ‘Set 1’ with the exclusion of the wider flat gem. As described, they have narrower shanks, however the .23 thickness was the perfect design choice. As long as you’re mindful to not catch the warding of the lock plug, I have no concerns regarding the longevity of these picks. The ‘Opal’ has allowed me to push through my lock picking plateau and open the Lockwood 334B45 and Abus 72/40 padlocks.
