The ‘Bone Skin’ is a reusable DLP handle which binds to the lockpick handle via 3 O-rings. A rubber/foam strip on the inside face of the of the ‘Bone Skin’ handle grips the lockpick surface to prevent forward and backward movement while picking a lock.
Although sized to fit Bare Bones and Law Lock Tool’s Valyrian picks, it can be used with other pick manufactures with some lateral movement.
The ‘Bone Skin’ handle started as an inquiry from Alpama (Australasian Lockpickers discord/ You Tube creator), who was looking for a smaller reusable handle other than the ‘Femur’. Resizing the ‘Femur’ handle would be the simplest solution, however it wouldn’t provide any new innovation.
After some thought and head scratching, a previous O-ring handle design from Tipene (Law Lock Pick designer) seemed to be the perfect match. Further discussions with Tipene shaped the design for what’s now known as the ‘Bone Skin’.
A big thank you to Alpama for raising the question and to Tipene for sharing his knowledge and experience.

Ahhh, the ‘Bone Skin’… It’s really tough to rank this one amongst the other excellent handle choices. On one hand, it’s an awesome alternative to the Femur handle.
It combines the rounded profile of the ‘Bone Grip’ handle, the textured grip of the ‘Bone Scale’ handle and the versatility of ‘Femur’ handle.
On the other hand, I haven’t had enough time to adjust to the sensation of the O-rings when gripping the handle. I would love to see another iteration designed with grub screws.
I believe this would also alleviate the need for the padded tape on the inside of the handle which allows the lock pick shank to slightly flex.
One last note, this handle does not accommodate the HPC “paddle pop” style handles. I thought there was a possibility, but the HPC handle was simply too thick, even with the padding tape removed.
